Google is testing a new feature that adds check marks next to certain companies in its search results to help users identify verified sources and avoid fake websites.

This initiative aims to protect users from fraudulent sites that impersonate official businesses, potentially spreading false information and damaging the reputation of brands.

A Google spokesperson confirmed that the company is experimenting with this feature to assist users in finding trustworthy businesses online.

Google already employs automated systems to filter out scam or fraudulent content from appearing in search results, but the checkmark system is an added measure to further ensure safety.

The Verge reported that companies like Microsoft, Meta, and Apple have been seen with blue checkmarks next to their official site links during this limited testing phase. However, the experiment is currently available only to a select group of users.

Google has not yet rolled out the feature widely, and it remains in the experimental stage as the company evaluates its effectiveness in enhancing user trust and preventing online fraud.
