AI powered dictation startup Wispr Flow has officially launched its Android app, marking a major expansion of its voice to text platform across mobile devices. The company had earlier rolled out versions for Mac and Windows before introducing its iOS app in June 2025. With the Android release, Wispr Flow now covers the world’s largest mobile operating system, positioning itself more strongly in the competitive voice technology market.
Unlike its iOS version, which operates through a dedicated keyboard, the Android app features a floating bubble interface that allows users to dictate text across different apps. Users can hold the bubble to speak or tap it once to begin dictation and press close to stop. In addition to converting speech to text, the app automatically removes filler words and formats content based on the context of the application being used, aiming to deliver more polished output without additional editing.
Co founder and Chief Executive Officer Tanay Kothari said the Android platform offered greater flexibility in designing the user experience. He stated that the company had long envisioned a seamless voice interaction system and that Android allowed them to build that experience more freely. According to him, voice technology can only replace typing on mobile devices when the platform enables smooth integration without unnecessary restrictions.
Wispr Flow said the Android app supports translation in more than 100 languages and works across other applications on the device. Alongside the launch, the company announced that it has completed an infrastructure rewrite that makes dictation 30 percent faster than before. The startup also introduced a new voice model designed specifically for Hinglish, a blend of Hindi and English widely spoken in India. Kothari explained that the model was created to reflect real conversational patterns rather than forcing users into traditional Hindi script, noting that early users have already spoken more than 1.3 million words in English within days of the rollout.
The Android launch comes amid strong investor interest in AI driven productivity tools. Wispr Flow raised 30 million dollars in June in a funding round led by Menlo Ventures and secured an additional 25 million dollars in November in a round led by Notable Capital. The company has raised a total of 81 million dollars, with its most recent valuation reportedly reaching 700 million dollars, underscoring growing confidence in the future of AI powered voice technology.
