SystemSpecs has renewed its call for deliberate investment in young Nigerians, stressing that equipping them with relevant skills, confidence and problem solving capacity is essential for the country’s long term growth. The technology firm noted that with nearly half of Nigeria’s population under the age of 25, youth development must be treated as a national priority.
In a statement, the company said its Corporate Social Responsibility programmes are structured to expose children and teenagers to real life societal challenges, using information technology as a tool to inspire practical thinking and responsible citizenship. According to SystemSpecs, sustainable national progress goes beyond building strong digital systems and must include nurturing the future leaders who will manage and improve them.
Speaking on the initiative, the Executive Director, Corporate Services, Bukola Adeboye, said Nigeria must intentionally invest in the intellectual capacity of its children. She explained that technology remains a powerful enabler of progress and young people need to understand its role in solving everyday problems that affect millions of citizens.
She said the Children’s Day Essay Competition, now in its seventh edition, reflects this vision by giving students aged nine to 17 a platform to engage national issues and propose thoughtful solutions. The theme for the 2026 edition focuses on how information technology can help achieve a safer and more effective transportation system in Nigeria, an area that directly affects daily life and economic productivity.
SystemSpecs noted that challenges such as safety risks, congestion, logistics delays and weak emergency response continue to disrupt movement across the country. It added that through initiatives like the essay competition, it remains committed to raising a generation of responsible, future ready problem solvers. The portal for the 2026 competition opens on Monday, February 9.
