Optasia, a global AI driven fintech platform, has reaffirmed its commitment to responsible innovation and privacy by design as the Platinum Sponsor of Nigeria’s National Privacy Week 2026, highlighting growing private sector support for the country’s data protection and digital trust agenda.

The week long programme, held at the Transcorp Centre in Abuja under the theme “Privacy in the Era of Emerging Technologies: Trust, Ethics and Innovation”, brought together regulators, financial institutions, technology firms and policy stakeholders to examine the impact of artificial intelligence and data driven services on consumer protection and national development.

The programme culminated in the National Data Privacy Summit on Wednesday, 4 February, convened in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act. Welcoming participants, the National Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, Dr Vincent Olatunji, stressed that privacy is a constitutional right and a critical foundation for Nigeria’s digital economy. He noted that building trust is essential to unlocking the full potential of digital growth while safeguarding the digital identities of Nigerians.

Optasia said its operating philosophy closely aligns with these priorities, as its AI powered financial solutions are designed to expand digital access while embedding privacy, accountability and trust into its technology and partnerships. Operating across multiple regulated markets, the company delivers its services exclusively through licensed financial institutions and regulated partners, a model it says supports responsible growth and strong consumer protection. Its compliance framework is reinforced by SOC 2 Type II certification, reflecting internationally recognised standards for security, confidentiality and privacy.

Speaking at the event, Optasia’s Chief Commercial Officer, Uchenna Agbo, said the rapid expansion of Nigeria’s digital economy must be matched with strong protection of consumer data. She noted that ethical data use and compliance are central to building long term confidence in digital systems. Optasia’s executives also contributed to high level panel discussions on privacy, ethics and accountability in emerging technologies, as the company reiterated its long term commitment to supporting a trusted, inclusive and well governed digital economy in Nigeria.
