TikTok Shop has introduced a new digital gift card feature that allows users to easily send money to friends and family to shop on the platform. The rollout comes during the holiday season, a critical period for TikTok’s fast growing shopping business, as it works to strengthen its position in the competitive e commerce market.

The digital gift cards can be loaded with amounts ranging from 10 to 500 dollars and can be personalized with animated designs for different occasions such as birthdays, weddings and thank you messages. Once purchased, the gift cards are delivered by email, and recipients must have a TikTok account to redeem them. After redemption, the value is added instantly to the user’s TikTok Balance and can be used to shop for products on the app.

TikTok said the gift card experience will become more interactive in the future. By early 2026, users will be able to attach recorded or uploaded video messages to their gift cards. The company also plans to introduce an interactive unboxing feature that captures recipients’ reactions in real time, though further details have not yet been shared. For now, the gift card feature is only available in the United States.

The launch follows a strong sales performance for TikTok Shop, which recorded more than 500 million dollars in U.S. sales during the four days of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. However, the future of TikTok Shop in the U.S. remains uncertain as discussions continue over a possible sale of the app’s American operations. If no deal is reached, TikTok could face a ban, though the deadline has been extended to January 23, 2026.
