Global cloud communications provider, Infobip, has launched WhatsApp Business Calling, a new feature that enables businesses to make and receive voice calls through their WhatsApp Business numbers. The feature enhances Infobip’s omnichannel platform by enabling real-time, in-app conversations for businesses using the popular messaging service, allowing customers to interact without leaving WhatsApp.

The voice calling function can be activated directly from WhatsApp chats, interactive messages, or deep links embedded in websites and mobile applications. It also integrates with Infobip Conversations, the company’s cloud-based contact center platform, allowing customer service agents to transition from messaging to voice calls without losing conversation history or context.

With global availability, WhatsApp Business Calling supports a range of industries including retail, banking, aviation, and e-commerce. It helps businesses respond faster to complex queries while improving operational efficiency. Additionally, embedded app-based voice features reduce user friction, and built-in reporting and billing tools offer operational clarity and insights.

A standout feature is branded calling, where verified business profiles display the company’s name, logo, and checkmark during calls, enhancing trust and reducing fraud. This innovation supports Infobip’s broader mission to provide safe, authentic, and effective customer engagement tools, ahead of its planned launch of a Branded Calling ID (BCID) solution later this year.
