Bolt has introduced a new Family Profile feature that allows users to manage and pay for rides for up to nine other people from a single account. The innovation aligns with Bolt’s commitment to enhancing convenience, safety, and usability in its ride-hailing services, especially for families and support networks.
The feature addresses the growing trend of ride requests made on behalf of others—currently estimated at 2–6% of Bolt trips—by enabling account holders to invite others to join their profile, set monthly spending limits, and receive real-time trip notifications. Members added to the profile can request rides independently using the Bolt app, while the primary account holder retains full oversight.
Importantly, the feature adheres to Bolt’s rider eligibility rules, meaning all Family Profile members must have their own Bolt accounts and be at least 18 years old. This ensures the feature cannot be used to book rides for unaccompanied minors, upholding legal and safety standards.
Family Profile is particularly useful for caregivers and parents managing rides for elderly relatives or dependents unfamiliar with ride-hailing apps. It enhances flexibility and financial control by offering live ride tracking, trip alerts, and the ability to intervene during journeys if necessary. The launch complements existing safety features like trip verification codes and emergency assistance, reinforcing Bolt’s efforts to build a trusted and user-centric platform.
