Dutch chipmaker Nexperia BV has expressed satisfaction with recent actions by the U.S. and Chinese governments that have eased restrictions on its ability to ship semiconductors. The company said on Sunday that the move marks a positive step toward restoring stability in global chip supplies, a priority it described as central to its operations.

While acknowledging the policy shifts, Nexperia declined to comment on remarks from its Chinese subsidiary suggesting plans to accelerate efforts toward becoming more independent. The company instead emphasized its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted delivery to customers worldwide, amid a delicate geopolitical balancing act between Western and Chinese interests in the semiconductor industry.

The Dutch government also confirmed ongoing diplomatic engagements with Beijing, Washington, and industry stakeholders to find what it called a “constructive way forward” for Nexperia. The talks are aimed at stabilizing the firm’s international operations while maintaining regulatory compliance and national security safeguards.

A dispute over Nexperia’s ownership and operational control has recently sparked supply chain disruptions and raised concerns among global automakers. The company produces essential, low-cost chips used in vehicle systems, and the uncertainty surrounding its future had triggered fears of renewed shortages in the already fragile global semiconductor market.
