Renowned UK tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch is reportedly missing after the luxury yacht he was aboard, the 56-meter superyacht “Bayesian,” sank off the coast of Sicily. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday morning, as severe weather battered the region.
Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares, was among those rescued, but six others remain unaccounted for, according to sources. The Italian coast guard has confirmed that 15 people have been rescued so far, including British, American, and Canadian nationals, but one body has been recovered. The yacht had 12 guests and 10 crew members on board.

The Bayesian, which sank near Palermo, was managed by Camper and Nicholsons, who confirmed that harsh weather conditions led to the disaster. The yacht now lies at a depth of about 50 meters.
Mike Lynch, the former CEO of Autonomy, had recently been acquitted in a high-profile legal case in San Francisco, ending a 12-year battle over the $11 billion sale of his software company to Hewlett-Packard in 2011.
Lynch is a significant figure in the tech industry, having co-founded Autonomy in 1996 and later established the venture capital firm Invoke Capital, which invested in companies like Darktrace and Featurespace. Despite ongoing legal challenges, his influence in the tech world remains notable.
